Reports indicate that the United States and Iran have reached a preliminary understanding at the negotiators’ level, though it has not yet been approved by the leaders of either side. The website Axios, citing informed officials, reported that the understanding focuses on Iran’s nuclear file and several issues related to reducing tensions. The report said the matter is expected to be reviewed further during upcoming negotiations over the next 60 days. According to the report, a US official said Iran would commit to not pursuing a nuclear weapon, while several implementation-related issues would be examined during the process of applying the understanding. An Israeli source also told Channel 14 that the understandings remain at the negotiators’ level and have not yet received final approval from the leaders. Sources said the final decision is expected to be determined by the leaders of the two countries in the coming days.
