Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is expected to visit Tehran this week, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency. The visit is expected to take place as part of continued bilateral cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Security issues, regional developments and Pakistan’s role in facilitating talks between Iran and the United States are expected to feature in discussions between Munir and Iranian officials.
According to Iranian sources cited by ISNA, Pakistan remains the main intermediary between Tehran and Washington, with Qatar also involved in the diplomatic process. However, the visit has been reported as a possibility and has not been confirmed as a definite arrangement.
