US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that talks with Iran in Qatar are still ongoing, with the parties continuing negotiations over the “details and draft text of the agreement.” Speaking to reporters during his visit to India, he said that diplomatic exchanges and back-and-forth discussions on the initial draft agreement are continuing, and that finalising it could still take a few more days. Rubio stressed that Donald Trump is seeking a “strong and acceptable agreement,” adding that no deal will be reached without such an outcome. He also underscored the strategic importance for the United States of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, saying that this maritime route must remain open under all circumstances.
