Russia targeted Ukraine’s capital Kyiv in a large-scale missile and drone attack early on Sunday, Ukrainian authorities said. According to officials, residential buildings and schools were damaged in the strikes. At least one person was killed and around 20 others were injured in the capital. Three more people were also wounded in the wider Kyiv region. The attack came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing a possible combined strike on Ukraine, including Kyiv, potentially involving the use of the hypersonic ballistic missile “Oreshnik”. In recent days, Russian missile and drone strikes on the regions of Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia have also resulted in multiple casualties.
