The Taliban government has released “Mohammad Mubeen”, a former member and media figure affiliated with the group and widely known as “General Mubeen”, after more than 13 months in prison. Mr. Mubeen said in a video posted on social media that he had been sentenced to 18 months by the Taliban government’s military court but was released from Pul-e-Charkhi prison by order of the Taliban leader after serving 13 and a half months. In the video, he reaffirmed his support for the Taliban government and said he is currently at his residence. Mohammad Mubeen is known as a Taliban media figure and had previously held responsibilities within the Taliban government after the group returned to power in 2021.
