Donald Tusk has warned that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is on the verge of fragmentation. Tusk said the situation is not driven by external adversaries, but rather by growing distrust within the alliance itself. He stressed that member states of NATO must take serious steps to prevent what he described as a “threat.” The remarks come amid rising tensions between the United States and European countries, after Donald Trump recently said Washington would reduce its military presence in Germany. The US president had also previously stated that he is considering options for ending the United States’ membership in NATO.
