Reuters reported that nearly 100 international law experts from universities such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and the University of California have warned in an open letter about recent statements made by Donald Trump. The experts emphasized that U.S. attacks and threats against Iran could constitute violations of international law and potentially amount to war crimes. They also referred to remarks by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who stated that Washington would not enter war with “stupid rules of engagement.” This statement, the experts warned, has increased concerns about the United States’ commitment to the principles of international law. The letter also pointed to attacks against civilian targets such as schools, healthcare centers, and residential homes, particularly referring to an attack on a school in Minab. The signatories called for full compliance with international obligations and urged restraint from actions that violate the laws of war and human rights.
