The office of French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that it was “surprised” by Donald Trump’s remarks that Paris is not cooperating in the war against Iran, and emphasized that France will not change its position. According to the office, France has not changed its stance since the beginning of the war and remains committed to the same policy. The reaction came after Trump wrote on Truth Social that France had “done nothing” and that the United States would remember this. Meanwhile, the French military had previously announced that it would not allow the country’s airspace to be used for attacks against Iran. However, it has been stated that this restriction could be temporarily lifted if the purpose is defensive support for France’s allies. France has also reiterated its position that it will not participate in attacks against Iran and described Trump’s criticism as unexpected.
