The Canadian government has advised its citizens to avoid all travel to Afghanistan, warning that the security situation remains highly volatile and dangerous.
In its latest travel advisory, Canada cited the risk of terrorist attacks, armed conflict, kidnapping, arbitrary arrest and detention, as well as a high crime rate.
The Canadian government also said that widespread human rights violations by the de facto authorities remain a concern. It added that Canada’s ability to provide consular assistance in Afghanistan is extremely limited because the Canadian embassy has suspended its operations.
