US President Donald Trump has called on defence industry leaders to accelerate the production of weapons and military equipment as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s industrial capacity. Speaking at a “Defence and Innovation” summit at the US Army War College in Pennsylvania, Trump said the United States needed to increase the production of advanced military systems. The move comes as the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East have increased demand for missiles, air defence systems and other military supplies, exposing challenges in US production capacity and supply chains. Pentagon officials say the government is expanding investment and long-term contracts with defence companies to boost manufacturing of high-demand weapons, including Patriot missile systems.
