President Donald Trump said on Monday evening that he does not care if negotiations with Iran have come to an end, responding to reports that Tehran had unilaterally halted the talks. Speaking to CNBC, Trump said: “Honestly, I don’t care if the negotiations are over. I really don’t care.” His remarks came after Iranian media reported that the process of negotiations and message exchanges between Tehran and Washington had been suspended. Trump had previously told NBC that the United States was in no rush to reach an agreement with Iran. He said Washington would remain silent if the talks stopped and would continue its policy of pressure on Tehran, including maintaining its naval blockade. The comments underscore ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran and add further uncertainty over the prospects for any potential agreement between the two countries.
