The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that 28 vessels, including oil tankers, container ships, and other commercial vessels, have passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours. In a statement released on Sunday, May 10 , the IRGC’s Public Relations Office said the ships “passed after obtaining permission and in coordination with the IRGC naval forces and with security ensured.” The IRGC also stated that it considers the Persian Gulf “a waterway belonging to the Muslim countries of the region,” and claimed that the presence and actions of foreign forces, particularly the United States, are the main causes of insecurity in the area. It added that “smart control and monitoring of the Strait of Hormuz is continuously being carried out with strength and authority.”
