Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said the United States has yet to earn Iran’s trust, despite recent talks between the two sides in Islamabad. In a post on social media, he said Tehran had shown “goodwill and determination” during the negotiations, but longstanding mistrust remained due to past conflicts. Ghalibaf said the United States now understands Iran’s position and must decide whether it is willing to take steps to build trust. He added that the Iranian delegation had presented forward-looking proposals during the talks, but these failed to secure confidence from the U.S. side.
