BAMYAN: Local sources in Bamyan report that the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has arrested three barbers for giving haircuts in a Western style. According to the sources, these individuals were apprehended in the center of Bamyan and are being held in the central prison of the province. The Taliban claim that they had previously advised these individuals against styling hair in Western fashion. The sources indicated that the Taliban consider haircuts in Western styles for men to be a “crime.” Similar arrests for the same reason have also been reported in several other provinces.
