MAIMANA: Local sources in Faryab province report that two women have been murdered in Dowlatabad and Shireen Tagab districts of the province. In the first incident, a woman was reportedly strangled by her husband in Dowlatabad district on Friday. Sources indicate that the husband had a relationship with his wife’s sister, which led to the murder. He allegedly took his wife and sister-in-law under the pretense of going to a doctor, killed his wife at the “Salt Mine Junction,” and then fled with his sister-in-law. According to reports, the man’s vehicle became stuck in a sandy area, and the woman’s body was found inside the car. Following this incident, the Taliban arrested the man and his sister-in-law in Sheberghan, the capital of Jawzjan province. In a separate incident, it is reported that a 45-year-old woman was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Shireen Tagab district. This incident occurred in the village of “Baluch,” where the assailants entered the woman’s home and opened fire. Sources noted that the deceased woman was originally from Baghlan province but had been living in Baluch village for several years. Local Taliban officials in Faryab have not yet commented on these two incidents.
