KABUL: The Institute for Women, Peace and Security at Georgetown University has announced in its annual report that Afghanistan has been identified as the worst place for women among 181 countries. This report, based on the Global Peace and Security for Women Index for 2025, indicates that Denmark is the best country for women, while Afghanistan ranks last. Following Afghanistan, Yemen, the Central African Republic, and Sudan are positioned at the bottom of the list. The report notes that progress in the status of women globally has stalled, and significant changes are more likely to arise from vulnerable regions. The Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS) emphasizes its commitment to fostering a more sustainable and equitable world by focusing on the role of women in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, economic growth, and addressing global threats such as climate change and violent extremism.
