KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait has reported that 23 people have died in recent days after consuming illegally produced alcohol. The ministry also announced the arrest of 67 individuals suspected of producing homemade alcoholic beverages. In a statement, the ministry mentioned that operations led to the closure of six alcohol production facilities in industrial areas and the discovery of four more. Kuwait’s government has banned the import and domestic production of alcoholic beverages, but some individuals continue to produce them illegally in hidden locations, often lacking safety standards, leading to dangerous consumption situations. This incident marks the first time that such a large number of deaths due to alcohol consumption has occurred in Kuwait. The country is located in the Middle East and shares land borders with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq.
