Araghchi: Strait of Hormuz Is Not an International Waterway

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has once again stated that the Strait of Hormuz is not considered an international waterway and is under the joint sovereignty of Iran and Oman. Araghchi said maritime boundaries in the area are fully defined and clearly established, adding that the Strait of Hormuz is located thousands of kilometres from the shores of the United States. His remarks come as discussions continue over the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and the security of maritime navigation through the key waterway.
