The Taliban say around 200 people were killed in an alleged airstrike on a drug treatment hospital in Kabul, with casualties possibly rising. Officials claim Pakistani warplanes carried out the attack Monday night. About 170 injured have been taken to hospitals, while other Taliban sources suggest the death toll could reach 400. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and much of the hospital is reportedly destroyed. Former Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar called on the UN Security Council to act, while former President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack and urged Pakistan to reconsider its policies.
