UK parliament report raises security concerns over leaked Afghan applicants’ data

A UK parliamentary defence committee has warned that the personal information of nearly 25,000 Afghan applicants seeking resettlement in Britain was exposed due to serious failures in data management and protection. The committee criticised the Ministry of Defence’s handling of sensitive information and called for urgent improvements to prevent similar incidents in the future. It also urged the UK government to strengthen data security measures and speed up the relocation process for eligible Afghans. The data breach has raised concerns over the safety of affected applicants, many of whom had applied for resettlement after working with British forces and institutions in Afghanistan.
