KABUL: The Taliban’s National Disaster Management Authority of Afghanistan, has announced that in the past two days, severe snowfall and rain have resulted in 11 fatalities and three injuries across six different provinces. Mohammad Yousuf Hammad, spokesperson for the authority, in an interview with the media stated that the incidents occurred in the provinces of Parwan, Bamyan, Wardak, Kandahar, Jawzjan, and Faryab. He added that, in addition to the human toll, the rainfall caused partial destruction of nine houses, affecting 11 families. Moreover, 530 livestock have been lost due to adverse weather conditions. Hammad emphasized that snowfall and rain have continued in many provinces since yesterday, leading to the closure of the Salang Highway and several transportation routes in multiple provinces. The weather conditions have also posed challenges for access to various areas of the country, impacting relief efforts.
