KABUL: Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, under Taliban control, has announced the launch of the Naghlo solar power project with a capacity of 22.75 megawatts in the Surobi district of Kabul. The project, which cost approximately $18 million, was completed after a year, and according to the Taliban, it is expected to meet the electricity needs of over 23,000 families. Abdul Bari Omari, the Executive Director of DABS, stated that a transmission network has also been established to absorb the generated energy. The Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Abdul Salam Hanafi, noted at the inauguration ceremony that with the completion of electricity transmission projects from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the country will come closer to 24-hour electricity services. Despite these claims, residents of Kabul and other cities continue to face prolonged power outages during both the winter and summer seasons, and complaints about increasing electricity cuts persist.
