KABUL: The Ministry of Public Works of the Taliban has announced that reconstruction work on the remaining sections of the Salang Highway has begun, leading to the closure of the main route for vehicles.
Until the project is completed, passenger vehicles will use an alternative route, while cargo vehicles will operate in turns.
While officials speak of progress on the project, some citizens criticize the slow pace of work and claim that the Taliban are extorting money from drivers on both sides of the Salangs-an allegation that has not been officially confirmed or denied by the Taliban.
Citizens are calling for transparency and a faster reconstruction process.
