US President Donald Trump has posted an image of a red hat bearing the word “VETO”, following the midterm elections in which Democrats made significant gains.
Trump shared the image on Tuesday night, 3 November. The hat was in the colour associated with the Republican Party and featured the word “VETO” across the front.
Before the election, Trump suggested that he could become “Mr Veto” if Democrats took control of Congress.
Speaking on the New York Post’s Pod Force One podcast, he said he might veto legislation passed by Congress if Democrats gained control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Trump said he would veto “everything”, adding that Democrats would eventually have to negotiate with him to reach agreements.
His remarks come as election results point to significant Democratic gains in several key races, potentially shifting the balance of power in Congress.
