KABUL: The National Statistics and Information Authority of the Taliban has reported that in the month of Qaws (December), the price of oil in Afghanistan’s markets increased by 13.9%, while various types of vegetables saw an increase of 29%. In a report released today, the authority indicated that the price of grains rose by 3.5%, treatment costs increased by 17.2%, and clothing prices went up by 3.1%. According to the report, the monthly inflation rate for consumer price indices in December was 2.8%, with a year-on-year increase of 9.6% compared to December of the previous year. The Taliban’s National Statistics and Information Authority also noted that following clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan, and the closure of border crossings between the two countries, prices for food, medicines, and clothing in Afghanistan have been on the rise. Additionally, the authority mentioned that in the month of Aqrab (November), the prices of grains rose by 1.3%, meat by 1.6%, fruits by 10.3%, vegetables by 2.1%, and treatment costs by 13.9%.
