Abdul Sattar Hossini, a former member of Afghanistan’s parliament, says history and geography should not be used to fuel ethnic, linguistic or regional divisions.
Referring to discussions over Kulob, the Sulaiman Mountains and other historic areas, Hossini said their history should be examined on the basis of historical records and academic research rather than ethnic interpretations.
He said all ethnic groups in Afghanistan are part of a shared history and that no group should claim exclusive ownership of any part of the country.
Hossini also warned that exploiting ethnic and linguistic divisions could create opportunities for political and intelligence-related manipulation. He said Afghanistan belongs to all its people and that its future should be built on stability, justice, development and mutual respect.
