Pakistan has told the United Nations Security Council that more than 4,700 Pakistanis have been killed in terrorist attacks linked to Afghanistan over the past three years.
A Pakistani representative at the Security Council said the threat of terrorism against Pakistan had increased during this period.
Pakistan has also called for action against militant groups it says are operating from Afghan territory.
