Five years after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban are still using US-made military equipment that was supplied to the country’s former security forces, CBS News has reported.
The report says Taliban forces in Kabul have been seen using US-made armoured vehicles, weapons and military equipment left behind after the collapse of the former Afghan security forces in 2021.
According to CBS News, an estimated $7 billion worth of US-provided military equipment remained in Afghanistan after the former Afghan army collapsed and was subsequently taken over by the Taliban.
The report also says the Taliban have displayed some of the equipment during military parades in Kabul.
