The Taliban have publicly flogged a woman 39 times in Ghor province and sentenced her to two years in prison for allegedly fleeing her home, according to a statement from the Taliban-run Supreme Court.
The punishment was reportedly carried out publicly in Ghor, although the Supreme Court did not provide further details about the woman or the circumstances of the case.
The Taliban have continued to impose public corporal punishments under their judicial system, including flogging and prison sentences for a range of offences.
