Aisha Wahab, a member of the US House of Representatives for California’s 14th Congressional District, says she has received the endorsement of California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Wahab said she had worked with Mr Newsom on public safety, wildfire recovery, housing affordability and protections for workers, seniors and families.
She thanked the governor for his support and said she would continue that work in Congress while representing the people of California’s 14th District.
Wahab won the seat in a 2026 special election, becoming the first Afghan American elected to the US Congress. She is due to face another election in November as she seeks a full two-year term.
