KABUL: Stephan Dujaric, spokesperson for the United Nations, reported that approximately 25 square kilometers of land in the earthquake-affected regions of Kunar and Nangarhar are contaminated with explosives. In a press briefing on Wednesday, he stated that the aid efforts for the earthquake victims have been disrupted due to aftershocks. Dujaric emphasized the urgent need for water, food, shelter, and medical services. Additionally, aftershocks have forced many families in the Nurgal district of Kunar to spend the night outdoors in rainy weather. The UN has called on all those capable of providing assistance to collaborate in addressing the needs of the affected populations in Kunar. Four days after the earthquake, the Taliban have reported that the process of retrieving bodies from the rubble in Kunar is still ongoing.
