Ahmed al-Sharaa Syria’s President strongly condemned what he described as Israeli attempts to destabilize southern Syria. In remarks reported by the Al-Ikhbariyah Syria, al-Sharaa said Israel is seeking to turn Syrian territory into “an endless arena of chaos,” accusing it of undermining national unity and obstructing reconstruction efforts. He added that Syria “is neither a testing ground for foreign conspiracies nor a place for others’ expansionist ambitions.” The statement followed reports that Israeli forces raided the villages of Abidin, Jamla, and Tel al-Mughayer in the southern province of Daraa, areas that were also subjected to artillery fire and helicopter strikes a day earlier. Local sources reported that residents confronted Israeli troops who attempted to establish checkpoints in the affected villages. The Syrian Civil Defense reported casualties and material damage resulting from the strikes. Separately, the Syrian Foreign Ministry sent a protest letter to the United Nations Security Council, describing the Israeli operations in Daraa and Quneitra as a clear violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement in the occupied Golan Heights
