In recent weeks, Pakistan has sought to play a facilitating diplomatic role between Iran and the United States, aiming both to prevent an escalation of regional tensions and to strengthen its position within regional political and security dynamics. According to analyses, by engaging in such mediation efforts, Islamabad may pursue several key objectives: increasing its political weight between Washington and Tehran, managing regional tensions that directly affect its own security, and gaining diplomatic and economic advantages from both sides. However, experts emphasize that Pakistan’s role is largely limited to that of a “facilitator of communication” rather than a decisive mediator in reaching a final agreement, as key decisions continue to be made directly between Tehran and Washington.
