The U.S. Foreign Minister, Marco Rubio, said that President Donald Trump’s negotiating team has not proposed lifting sanctions on Iran in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that Washington’s position on sanctions remains unchanged and that any decision on the matter will depend on the course of negotiations and Iran’s actions. The remarks come amid speculation that economic incentives could be offered to Tehran as part of recent diplomatic efforts and negotiations.
