Lebanese officials have said that Hezbollah has agreed to a proposal put forward by the United States aimed at halting hostilities with Israel. Under the proposed arrangement, Hezbollah would cease its attacks against Israel, while Israel would refrain from targeting Beirut, the Lebanese capital. However, only hours after the reported agreement, the Israeli military said it had intercepted two projectiles launched from Lebanon. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s state news agency reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted several areas in the country’s south. The agency said a “very powerful explosion” shook the village of Debbine in the Marjeyoun district. The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue to reduce tensions and prevent a wider escalation between Hezbollah and Israel.
