Bloomberg reported that several US personnel were injured following a missile strike attributed to Iran on Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait. According to the report, Kuwait’s air defence systems intercepted a ballistic missile, but debris from it fell inside the base. As a result, around five US personnel, including military personnel and contractors, sustained minor injuries. The report also said that in the same incident, one MQ-9 Reaper drone was destroyed and at least one other drone was seriously damaged. US Central Command (CENTCOM) described the attack as a “gross violation of the ceasefire” and said a ballistic missile had been launched towards Kuwait. It also stated that several one-way attack drones had been intercepted near the Strait of Hormuz prior to the incident. CENTCOM further said that the launch of a sixth drone from Bandar Abbas had been prevented. Kuwait hosts a US air base, and Gulf countries, including Kuwait, have reportedly come under missile and drone attacks during recent tensions.
