Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is due to travel to New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Pezeshkian is expected to address the General Assembly and hold meetings with a number of foreign leaders and officials attending the session.
His visit comes amid continued tensions between Iran and the United States.
There have also been reports of a possible meeting between Mr Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, but no formal meeting has so far been confirmed.
