Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
He is due to address the General Assembly on 25 September, where he is expected to outline Pakistan’s position on changing regional and global security conditions and stress the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Sharif is also expected to highlight Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region and discuss issues including sustainable development, climate change, counter-terrorism, Islamophobia and global economic challenges.
He is due to hold bilateral meetings with a number of world leaders attending the General Assembly, as well as the UN secretary-general, and raise Pakistan’s position on Kashmir and Palestine.
