According to Reuters, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has privately expressed concern that Israel has limited ability to influence Donald Trump’s decisions regarding Iran. Citing two Israeli officials, the report says Netanyahu is worried about a draft understanding between Washington and Tehran, which is said to include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for easing certain US maritime restrictions. The report adds that Netanyahu continues to take a hardline stance, insisting that any final agreement must include the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities and the removal of enriched uranium stockpiles from the country. He has also called for maintaining Israel’s right to continue military operations in Lebanon and other regions. Donald Trump previously said of Netanyahu: “He is a very good man and will do whatever I ask him to do.”
