Reuters, citing a senior Iranian source, has reported that Tehran has not agreed to hand over its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium to be transferred outside the country. According to the source, Iran’s nuclear issue was not included in the initial understanding with the United States and is expected to be discussed during negotiations on a final agreement. The source stressed that no agreement has been reached regarding the transfer of Iran’s uranium reserves abroad. Meanwhile, Donald Trump said Washington and Tehran have largely reached an understanding on a memorandum related to an agreement concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on social media, Trump said the final details of the agreement are under review and would be announced soon. According to reports, the proposal could provide a phased framework aimed at reducing tensions, reopening the strategic waterway and easing some restrictions on Iran, although its exact details have not yet been finalised. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said that more developments regarding the Strait of Hormuz could emerge soon and that progress had been made in the talks. However, sources speaking to Tasnim News Agency said disagreements remain over some provisions and warned that no final agreement would be reached if obstacles from the US side continue. Other reports have suggested that some proposals include easing oil-related restrictions, reopening trade routes and commitments by both sides to prevent further escalation, although no final document has yet been confirmed.
