Following the extension of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, Pakistan has intensified its efforts to facilitate a potential agreement between the two sides. In this context, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met on Wednesday with Iran’s ambassador, Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, where both sides exchanged views on the trajectory of negotiations after the ceasefire extension. Meanwhile, sources told Al Arabiya that contacts between Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir and Iranian officials are ongoing, with discussions continuing over the details of a possible agreement between Washington and Tehran. According to these sources, Iran has conveyed through Pakistan its opposition to the continuation of the U.S. naval blockade, stating that lifting the blockade is a precondition for resuming negotiations. At the same time, Iran’s state television reported that Tehran may not remain committed to the ceasefire if the current situation persists.
