Islamabad — U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf are expected to arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday morning to initiate a new round of talks. According to a report by Associated Press, the negotiations come as a two-week ceasefire between the two sides approaches its expiration, raising concerns over a potential resumption of hostilities. The report notes that neither U.S. nor Iranian officials have formally confirmed the exact timing of the discussions. However, mediators led by Pakistan have indicated that delegations from both sides will travel to Islamabad to begin fresh negotiations. These developments unfold as the current ceasefire is set to expire on Wednesday. Both parties had previously warned that failure to reach an agreement could lead to renewed conflict.
