Vladimir Putin has ordered a temporary halt to military operations across all фронts in the war with Ukraine to mark Easter, while instructing Russian forces to remain on alert. According to the TASS news agency, the ceasefire will take effect from 4:00 p.m. on April 11 until midnight on April 12, Moscow time. In response, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine would take similar steps, adding that people should be able to observe Easter without threats or attacks. However, previous temporary ceasefires between the two sides have been repeatedly violated and have only briefly reduced hostilities. Ukraine has called for a full and lasting ceasefire to pave the way for peace talks and an end to the war, while Russia maintains that the conflict can only be resolved through a final peace agreement.
