Five Afghan journalists arrested in Islamabad over two weeks

ISLAMABAD: The Afghanistan Media Support Organization has announced that five Afghan journalists have been arrested in Islamabad, Pakistan, over the past two weeks. Among those arrested are Samim Farogh Faizi, a journalist, and Ataullah Rahman Shierzad, a cameraman. The organization reports that Afghan journalists in Pakistan are facing security threats, arbitrary detentions, and forced expulsions. Additionally, the process of renewing visas for migrants has been halted, and daily, numerous citizens, including journalists, are being arrested due to lack of visas. The Afghanistan Media Support Organization has urged the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, European countries, Reporters Without Borders, and other international bodies to take practical measures to ensure the immediate safety of Afghan journalists in Pakistan.
