GAZA: Thousands of reserve forces from the Israeli army have been called up as the military begins a new phase of ground operations to capture Gaza City. Israeli forces have entered the outskirts of the city, which is currently under heavy aerial and artillery bombardment. Hospital sources in Gaza report that at least 95 Palestinians have been killed since midnight. The Israeli army has urged residents to move south immediately. This call is part of “Operation Gideon’s Chariots 2,” which previously involved 60,000 reserve forces. Concurrently, the service of another 20,000 troops has been extended, with some being deployed to the West Bank and northern regions. Inside Israel, there are reports of decreased participation from reserve forces. Families of hostages have expressed concern over the continuation of military operations, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate for the release of the captives instead of prolonging the war. General Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, warned that the attack on Gaza City endangers the lives of hostages but emphasized that operations will continue until there is a “decisive victory.” According to Gaza officials, more than 63,000 people have died since the conflict began on October 7, 2023.
