KIYV/MOSCOW: The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced the exchange of 146 soldiers for 146 Ukrainian soldiers. According to the TASS news agency, the Russian soldiers have been transferred from Ukraine to Belarus. The Ministry has also stated that eight residents from the Kursk region, who were detained in Ukraine, have been released. After their release, the Russian soldiers will be sent to Belarus, where they will receive psychological and medical care before being returned to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation. This exchange was mediated by the United Arab Emirates, and Moscow expressed gratitude to the UAE for its role in facilitating the exchange. It is worth noting that Russia and Ukraine have previously conducted exchanges of their captured personnel. Nearly three years have passed since the onset of the conflict, which has severely impacted both countries militarily. In recent months, discussions have been ongoing between the Trump administration and Russian officials regarding the resolution of the Ukraine conflict, with President Donald Trump emphasizing the need to end the war.
