KABUL: A $10 billion agreement for the production of 10,000 megawatts of electricity in Afghanistan has been signed between the Taliban’s Ministry of Energy and Water and Azizi Energy Company. This project will include generating electricity from thermal, hydro, wind, and solar resources, and aims to provide stable electricity to the people of Afghanistan through the establishment of transmission and distribution networks. Azizi Energy will be responsible for financing and implementing the projects, while the Ministry of Energy and Water will facilitate investment and coordinate with relevant entities. The initiative is set to be implemented in various provinces across the country and is expected to create extensive job opportunities. The Taliban emphasized that this project represents a positive step toward ensuring energy security, reducing dependence on imported electricity, and promoting sustainable economic growth, with completion planned by 2032.
