Reuters, citing informed sources, has reported that a proposed agreement between Iran and the United States includes plans to establish a private investment fund worth $300 billion for projects in Iran. According to the sources, more than half of the funding has already been pledged and is expected to be provided by companies from the United States, Gulf Arab countries, and several Asian nations. Reuters reported that the fund is not intended as financial aid or war reparations. Instead, it is designed to attract investment in sectors such as energy, transportation, manufacturing, and infrastructure reconstruction. An Iranian source told Reuters that Tehran had initially sought $400 billion in compensation from the United States, but Washington rejected the request. According to the report, the fund will only be established if Iran and the United States reach a final agreement. The two sides are expected to have a 60-day period for final negotiations following the signing of an initial accord.
