WASHINGTON: Chelsea FC of England clinched the title of the inaugural Club World Cup by decisively defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final match.

The game took place at the New Jersey stadium in the United States, where U.S. President Donald Trump was present to award the championship trophy to the Chelsea team.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer scored two goals in the 22nd and 30th minutes, while João Pedro added a third goal in the 43rd minute.

Despite a strong effort from Luis Enrique’s squad in the second half to recover, they were unable to breach Chelsea’s defense.

In the 85th minute, PSG’s João Nuss was sent off for a non-sporting act of pulling the hair of an opposing player, leaving his team to finish the match with ten players.

The closing moments of the game were marked by tensions and altercations between players and coaches of both teams.

This tournament marked the first Club World Cup held with 32 teams from around the globe. With this significant victory, Chelsea, the Conference League champions, lifted the trophy high.
