Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has strongly backed Lionel Messi to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, saying he would vote for the Argentine 100 times.
Zidane said he would not be surprised if Messi won the award and praised the 39-year-old forward for continuing to perform at the highest level.
“If I could vote, I would vote for Messi 100 times,” Zidane said, according to reports. He also said that anyone who still doubts Messi’s status as the greatest player of all time does not understand football.
Messi is among the 30 nominees for this year’s Ballon d’Or after an impressive season with Inter Miami and Argentina. The award ceremony will be held in London on 26 October.
